We’d like to remember Lewis Cheshire from Ashby, Mass who sailed aboard the Emily Morgan. Lewis was twenty three years old when he went out along the ocean waters, trying to make a living from the nautical life such as many others. Of course careers such as those are often intertwined with numerous dangers that crewmen such as Lewis sadly could not avoid. Unfortunately due to the tests of time, records of Lewis’s cause of death was never discerned however it was widely assumed he passed away due to disease. It was confirmed though his passing was on April 17th, 1840 and was buried at sea shortly after. Even though Lewis was lost far too young, it was without a doubt his contribution to the Emily Morgan and his community would never be forgotten.
