Each year, this service stands as a meaningful tribute to those who have served, those connected to the sea, and all who sacrificed in defense of freedom. Set against the solemn and sacred backdrop of the Seamen’s Bethel and the historic New Bedford waterfront, our Memorial Day gathering brings together residents, veterans, families, and visitors for a time of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.
The program will include musical tributes, readings of remembrance, and a moment of silence honoring all branches of our nation’s armed forces and the maritime community whose lives have touched New Bedford’s story. This event offers a chance to reflect on the bravery and selfless service of those who came before us.
We encourage attendees to arrive early and take a moment to explore the historic pews and walls of the Bethel, where the names and stories of seafarers and community members have echoed for nearly two centuries.
Mark your calendar and join us in honoring the past, celebrating courage, and paying tribute to those who gave so much.
