New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center

The New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center is dedicated to telling the story of America’s largest commercial fishing port. Through exhibits, programs, and events, the Center celebrates the lives and work of fishermen and their families while preserving the city’s rich fishing heritage for future generations.

Inside the Center, visitors can explore interactive exhibits that highlight the skills, traditions, and challenges of the fishing industry. Oral histories, photographs, and artifacts bring to life the stories of those who have made their living from the sea. Educational programs and cultural events further connect the community to the ongoing story of commercial fishing in New Bedford.

The Center also plays an important role in honoring the resilience of the fishing community. By showcasing both past and present, it ensures that the voices of fishermen, their families, and their cultural traditions remain an integral part of New Bedford’s identity.
